About CheckMyHeight

Last updated 24 October 2026

I'm Nitin Raja. Before building CheckMyHeight I tested a lot of height and sizing websites, to see what people actually need from them and what just gets in the way. Every tool here is built around that: the answer you came for, the method shown, and nothing you have to sign up for.

How the site started

CheckMyHeight began with one question: can a phone measure your height accurately in a web page, with no app and no tape measure? Modern phones track their own position in 3-D, and the browser can use that to measure from the floor to the top of a head. That became the height checker on the home page. Knowing your height led to the next question, how you compare, so the site added a to-scale comparison chart with 1,240+ celebrities, then the growth and percentile calculators, then tools for other things people measure at home: rings, bras, bikes, skis, TVs and desks. Four of the tools are also in 10 other languages.

What we do differently

Every tool measures or calculates in your browser and shows how it got the answer. Each calculator page has a "What this measures" section that describes exactly what the code does, the formula or standard it uses, the date its data was last checked, and what it does not measure. None of them asks for an account or an email address.

Method and data sources

  • Celebrity heights: Wikidata, property P2048 first, then official measurements or the person's own statement, then widely reported figures, which are marked as such. See the editorial policy.
  • Character heights: official databooks, guidebooks, publisher and game profiles, or Wikidata, named on every row of the character list.
  • Averages and growth: CDC NHANES 2015-2018 (US adults), the CDC 2000 and WHO growth charts (children), and NCD-RisC 2019 (countries and the world).
  • Sizing standards: ISO/IEC 7810 ID-1 (the bank card used to calibrate screens), ISO 8653 and BS 6820 (ring sizes), EN 13402-3 (bra sizes), ISO 11088 (ski binding release values) and ISO 9407 mondopoint (boot sizes).
  • Charts and rules: evo's snowboard and ski size charts, woom's kids' bike height ranges, the 0.665 and 0.883 inseam rules for bikes, and body proportions from Pheasant and Haslegrave's Bodyspace.
  • Landmarks and records: the CTBUH Skyscraper Center and Guinness World Records.

Each tool page lists its own sources with links at the end.

Every tool on the site

Measure with your phone

  • Height checker - measure your height with the phone camera (live AR), then see your percentile and healthy weight range.
  • Measure object height - the height of a door, ceiling, desk or TV with the same camera tool.
  • Tree height calculator - a tree, house or flagpole with your phone as a clinometer, by angle or by shadow.
  • RV leveling calculator - lay the phone on the floor and see how many blocks each wheel needs.
  • Size from a photo - shoe, ring and watch size from one photo with a card in the picture as the ruler.
  • Pupillary distance - your PD for glasses with the front camera, no ruler needed.

Home and garage

There are also reference pages: celebrity heights, average height, landmark heights, famous height matchups and a guide on how to measure your height.

Languages

The height checker, the height comparison chart, the ring sizer and the online ruler are available in 11 languages: English, Bahasa Indonesia, Español, Português, 日本語, Français, Deutsch, Tiếng Việt, ไทย, 한국어, 繁體中文. Use the language menu at the top of those pages.

Privacy: no account, nothing uploaded

There are no accounts on CheckMyHeight. The camera feed for live AR and any photo you add are processed on your device and never uploaded. Calculators run in your browser; a share link holds your inputs in the address itself, so only the people you send it to see them. Your height, gender choice, game score and screen calibration are kept in your own browser's storage. The privacy policy lists every outside service the pages load.

Accuracy and corrections

Every tool says how accurate it is and when it can be wrong: live AR on Android is usually within 2-3 cm, the iPhone engine is in beta, screen sizing is only as good as the card calibration, and the health calculators are not medical advice. If you find a wrong height, a wrong number or a broken tool, email hello@checkmyheight.com or use the contact page, with a link to a reliable source where you have one. Confirmed mistakes are fixed and the page's date is updated, as the editorial policy explains.

Who builds it

CheckMyHeight is built and maintained by Nitin Raja, software developer, founder of CheckMyHeight. Nitin builds the tools, checks the data and reviews every correction. Nobody pays to be listed, or to be shown taller or shorter.
