Celebrity height game
Think you know celebrity heights? Play the Taller-or-Shorter streak challenge, or test your precision in the 10-question celebrity height quiz.
New: the Daily Height Challenge - five rounds a day, the same for everyone. Drag each person to the height you think.
How does Taller or Shorter work?
You see one celebrity's height. Guess whether the next person is taller or shorter. Every right answer adds to your streak - one wrong guess ends it. Your best streak is saved on this device.
Where do the heights come from?
Public listings - mostly Wikidata. Pairs that are within a centimetre of each other are skipped, so there's always a right answer.
How to play the celebrity height game
Think you know how tall your favourite stars are? The celebrity height game puts that to the test with two ways to play, both drawn from 1,240+ real celebrity heights. There's nothing to download and no sign-up; your best score is saved on your device.
Taller or shorter: the streak challenge
You see two celebrities. Is the second one taller or shorter than the first? Pick one and keep going - every right answer adds to your streak, and one wrong answer ends it. Use the category menu to play with just actors, singers, athletes or another group, or leave it on everyone for the 450 best-known names. Beating a streak of 10 means you really know your celebrity heights.
The 10-question celebrity height quiz
Prefer a fixed round? The quiz asks ten questions about famous people's heights across actors, singers, athletes and more. Pick from four heights; after each answer you see the real one, and you get your score at the end - a quick way to learn a few surprising facts to use on your friends.
Tips for guessing celebrity heights
- Ignore the screen. Films and TV are full of tricks - camera angles, boxes, trenches and lifts - that make actors look taller than they are.
- Athletes are the easy points. Basketball players, rowers and volleyball players are almost always taller than they look on TV, because everyone around them is tall too.
- Pop stars are the hard ones. Stage shoes and camera angles hide a lot; many chart-toppers are 5′ 2″ or under.
- Think about who they stand next to. If an actor always seems the same height as their co-star, check both - one of them is probably on a box.
- Use the averages. The average American man is about 5′ 9″ and the average woman about 5′ 3½″. Anyone "tall" on screen is often only a little above that.
Why the celebrity height quiz is harder than it looks
People tend to guess that celebrities are taller than they really are. Red-carpet photos are taken in heels and platform shoes, press releases round up, and we tend to imagine famous people as larger than life. The result is a quiz where your instinct is usually wrong in the same direction. Players who do best learn to guess a little shorter than their first thought.
It also works the other way: some stars are far taller than audiences expect, especially actors who usually play opposite even taller co-stars. The surprising celebrity heights list collects the biggest shocks in both directions.
Where the heights in the game come from
Every height in the game comes from the same catalog as the rest of CheckMyHeight - mostly Wikidata, the free database behind Wikipedia, with a few widely reported figures where Wikidata has none. Each celebrity has a height page with the source. Listed heights can be a centimetre or two generous, so pairs that are almost identical are left out of the streak challenge - no one should lose a streak over a millimetre.
Play with your own height
The game is more fun once you know your own number. Measure yourself with your phone camera on the homepage - it takes about 30 seconds and needs no tape measure - then find your celebrity height twin and see which stars you're taller than. Or build your own line-up on the height comparison chart and challenge a friend to guess the order before you reveal it.
Categories to try
Each category plays differently. Athletes is the hardest for the streak challenge, because so many players are tall and the differences are small. Singers & rappers is full of surprises, with many stars well under the average. Actors and Actresses test how much you trust what you see on screen, and K-Pop and Bollywood are favourites with fans who know their idols. Try each one and see where your streak lasts longest - then switch back to all categories for the real test of how well you know celebrity heights.
Challenge your friends
Beat your best streak, then send the game to a friend and see who knows their celebrity heights better. Good follow-ups: the famous celebrity height matchups (Tom Holland vs Zendaya, Messi vs Ronaldo, Kevin Hart vs The Rock), BTS members' heights, or the character height comparison for film and game characters - Darth Vader is taller than you think, and Yoda is exactly as small as you'd hope.
Keep learning celebrity heights
Every celebrity in the game has a full height page, so a wrong answer is a chance to learn. Browse the full celebrity heights list, filter by category - actors, singers, athletes, K-Pop, Bollywood and more - or start with the popular stars on the homepage. The more heights you know, the longer your streak.
